I read. Yep, I was a book worm from the time I could read. I watched my son Taylor walking through the house with an open book yesterday and trip over something, and I chuckled thinking..."That was me at his age." Taylor is working through the Narnia books this summer. I think he's on book three and schools been out a week. I told the kids the other day that I would approach my high school English teacher at the end of the school year and ask for a "summer reading list." Nick just rolled his eyes.
I love to read. It's a wonderful and sometimes dangerous past time. I've had to learn the fine line of balance in this love of mine. I've had seasons in life where I have read to escape and times where over indulged at the expense of setting aside my #1 read- the word of God. I now read much more selectively and with purpose and intent.
Here's what I'm currently reading:
"The Shack" by William P. Young- I think I'll have a lot to say when I'm all done reading. Right now I'm reading this one aloud to John at bedtime. There have been a few occasions where reading aloud is a bit challenging through the lump in my throat and the grip on my heart.
"Dead Heat" by Joel C. Rosenberg- in mid stream still and very very hard to put down.
Love and Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs because a good marriage book is always in order, even after almost 18 years, we still have a lot to learn. We had a great talk last night on our "date night" about what RESPECT really means.
What are you reading?

Caught on Tape!!
Last night I supervised in the kitchen while Taylor made spaghetti for dinner and Isabelle used up the huge stack of rotten bananas from the freezer to make 2 loaves of banana bread. We had dinner and then went for our "almost-nightly" walk. When we returned everyone grabbed some banana bread, and John and the kids went out to play 4 square. I was busy checking emails when I heard a loud clatter and witnessed this scene:

Spring Cleaning
It happens. The house somehow accumulates so much dirt and clutter over the winter! I really don't get it. It's not like we hibernate or live like slobs all winter, but it sure did look like it about a week ago when I took a good look around!
Last week we tackled the "music room" which started out as our home school room 2 years ago and then turned into music room, but still had remnants of home school and unpacked clutter from when we moved in to this house. Yuck. (nearly certain that was a run on sentence- good one!)
The music room now looks like a music room and is free of all clutter and non-musical influence! It's actually a space that everyone enjoys being in now! Feels good.
This week, the job to tackle has been bedrooms- primarily the dreaded season change clothing issue. We had all started digging through the "summer bins", but hadn't actually cleaned out drawers and closets to make room for summer clothes. So, needless to say we had a clothing pile up going on about everywhere in the house. You know the kind where even if you manage to do the laundry and fold the laundry, you have no where to put it. Ahhhhhhgg...
Anyway, today all four children have had their closest and drawers cleaned out. Clothes were categorized and packed away- winter wear for next year, winter wear for consignment next fall, winter wear that I wouldn't even give away, summer clothes for consignment, summer clothes in the drawers... ahhhh, that feels good!
I also spend a good 30 minutes spring cleaning the vacuum cleaner today (why do I still have to spell check vacuum?)... I finally managed to locate and dislodge the large plug of whatnot that was basically causing my vacuum to puke all over my carpet. Taylor thought perhaps a new vacuum was in order, but I won! At least this time around!
I'm worn out. The kids are all worn out. I had them heaving and hoeing all day!
Tomorrow we welcome the A/C service man and the dishwasher repair guy into our home to try to make life a bit easier and a bit cooler!

Celebrating 40
I know, it's still almost 2 months until my birthday. And usually I don't make a big deal about birthdays, but come on FORTY is a big deal!
I also like gifts. Though words are my primary LOVE LANGUAGE, gifts rank right up there. So, if I was thinking of what to get someone for their 40th birthday, I might look at these websites. (Do you think John reads my blog?)
Lisa Leonard Designs
China Baroque (I LOVE their rings!)
Ok, now here's the deal... share some of your favorite, I WISH websites with me so that my wish list can grow! A girl can dream right?
Also, help me out on this one... What should I do to celebrate?? If you've passed the 40 mark, what did you do? If you haven't help me out with some fun ideas! I can promise there will be no black balloons! I'm excited about this landmark birthday.
Other things to note:
1. This year will be my little brother Joe's 30th birthday (we're 10 years and 1 day apart)
2. This year will be my oldest son Nick's 16th birthday
3. This year will be Taylor's 13th birthday

D.C. Update
We did not leave for D.C. as planned. We are trusting that the Lord has held us here for a reason, and have begun to see several of them already. We are trusting in His leadership over our lives.
Please continue to pray for the team who is in D.C. now and for others who will be traveling throughout the summer and for THE CALL DC in August.

Elia is SO PRETTY
Elia is SO HELPFUL
There are many first that parents gleefully brag about- first words, first steps, first night to sleep through the night, first tooth... you know.
Well yesterday was the FIRST to top all FIRSTS! I had just given Elia a bath, had dried her off and she took off. I had to go gather up clothes, diaper and so forth and then went to the bathroom, giving her the pleasure of airing dry for a few minutes. She loves it!
She showed up in the bathroom as I was washing my hands and with a delightful squeal presented me with a gift- a fist full of poo poo. I am not kidding folks. It took me all of three seconds to distinguish what this child was presenting me with! I squealed and grabbed her by the wrist and tried to get her to drop it in the potty. She would not release her grip! I eventually got her to drop it, and the proceeded back to the scene of the crime to clean up the remaining evidence.
She was so helpful though to get most of it cleaned up for me.

Remembering the Chapman Family in Prayer
Most of you reading this are already aware of the tragic loss that the Chapman family has suffered. John and I read the article this morning and immediately sat down to pray for them. In situations like this, it is almost impossible not to put yourself into their loss and ask all the, "What if.." questions. What if my child... What if my son... How would I.... What would he be feeling.... How do you sleep..... How do you wake up.... Life will never be the same...
So today I pray, because none of my thought and wonderings will make a difference, but as the body of Christ prays, the Father hears. I was reminded of Romans 8:26,27 this morning:
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.
So I pray in the spirit today when word seem insufficient, knowing that the Father is listening and will move heaven and earth to minister His love to this precious family.

When You're Almost F*@#ty
As I approach my birthday, there are a few things that are NOT NICE to hear. Here's one of them:
Situation goes like this- I'm teaching a children's track for the Intro to IHOP program and John stops by to drop off Elia before taking the older three to see Prince Caspian.
John leaves.
The intern helping looks at me and say, "Now is he your son or your husband?"
Eeeek, I almost kicked her in the knee caps.

Loux's Lawnmowing Service
Well, that's my way of saying how nice it is to have two capable boys and two lawnmowers to get the job done around here today!
I just went out to check on the progress and witnessed this: Nick pushing away and singing at the top of his lungs, either not realizing that people can hear a block away or not caring, "You won't relent until you have it all, MY HEART IS YOURS!" (Misty Edwards for those of you not familiar)
That makes me smile today! A teenager who is outside declaring to all who should pass by that HIS HEART is totally given over to Jesus!

A Post Worth Reading
I've been reading Iwona Majors blog for a month or so now. I don't know her well, but she is here at IHOP and part of our community. I see her children more than I see her, but that's the case with most of the families here at IHOP!
We had a group of Polish pastors and leaders here at IHOP last fall and spent a great deal of time praying for Poland in the prayer room while they were here. Iwona sang on one of the worship teams and translated choruses into Polish for some of the sets. I remember being stunned by the beauty of her voice and the power of the Word being translated into the native tongue of these pastors.
I encourage you to check out her blog. For those of you homeschooling, she has a second blog that focuses on her children and homeschooling.
I specifically posted about her blog today because of THIS RECENT POST.

On Being a Mother
I am a mother. And I am in love with the four most incredible children in the world. Though motherhood carries with it an endless list of sacrifice and occassional heartache. I am reminded more and more how good being a mother is for my heart. I was made for this. I'm reminded every day through the feelings in my own heart toward my children, how much the Lord loves ME! I am able to rejoice as they grow and become all that God has them to be. I am able to listen as they wade through the challenges of life and begin to ask the hard questions. I am able to reassure them of my love and of God's love when they stumble and fall. I am there just to be with them, when all they need is the softness of a mother's touch. I remind myself daily that God feels the same way about me. He loves me, He laughs with me, He cries when I cry, He is willing to listen when I ramble on, He is willing to be still when I have no words. His love never fails.
Nick- my first born. Deep thinker, artist, musician. I love his heart for the Lord. He has learned at age 15 to value time with God in the secret place. He was born talking. He processes much of life out loud... One of my greatest joys are times when we're in the car just the two of us and he just starts rambling from his heart.
Elia Jane- born in my heart. Beautiful, gentle and tenderhearted. She adores people and loves to be in the middle of everything. She has a way of making everyone feel loved. She is usually too busy to cuddle, but I treasure every hug, every kiss blown my way, and every sweet smile!
That's the smile I live for!
Isabelle- my first daughter. Musician, writer, lover of God. She is fiery in her passion for the things of God and she inspires me to go deep! She is a dreamer- God speaks to her in dreams. I love it when she gets a download from God and preaches to the family!
Taylor- blue eyed wonder! Artist, musician, story teller, teacher. His quiet devotion reminds me to be still and know that He is God. He is a student of the Word. I love just being with Taylor. He is one of those rare people that you can just BE with and know what he is feeling just by being near him. He usually wakes up first and I love just sitting with him first thing in the morning. His hair is soft and still smells like it did when he was little.
And they make me laugh!
Taylor is so funny, and most people don't get to see that side of him! He is joy for my soul!
Lord, for these that you have given me, I am so grateful! Thank you for sharing your heart with me through these precious gifts.

D.C. Bound
We enjoyed a long awaited dinner with our friends Randy and Kelsey last night. We had the added bonus of having a gift card to The Melting Pot just burning a hole in our pocket. So, not only did we get to hang out with two of our most favorite people in the whole world, we got to spend about three hours eating amazing food together. Much of our conversation was about our upcoming summer plans.
I haven't blogged about our summer adventure, so it's time to catch you up to speed and ask you to please pray. We have been asked to join the Summer Strike Force in DC that will be praying and worshiping at JHOP- Justice House of Prayer, and interceding on the steps of the Supreme Court (24/7) for the ending of abortion, for righteous government, and for God to pour Himself out upon our nation and have mercy on us. This summer of intercession is in preparation for The Call D.C. August 16, 2008.
We will be helping Randy and Kelsey to oversee the groups of people- many of them teens and young adults- coming in to help fuel the house of prayer and stand at the Supreme Court. John will supervise and organize worship teams, as well as leading a team of his own. Our children will be playing and singing on teams and working side by side with us in D.C.
Why are we doing this? Here's quote by Lou Engle
LOU ENGLE talking to the kids about the Call D.C. in our Malachi 4:6 Prayer Meeting, and calling them to come to D.C. with their families to stand in the solemn assembly on August 16th.- photo by Shelley Paulson
We know that God is moving on our nation. We know that He standing in righteousness to judge us for the sins of our nation, and we feel compelled to be part of this summer event as a family. To stand on the wall crying out,
"Jesus I plead your blood over my sins and the sins of my nation.
God end abortion and send revival to America."

We feel like this is part of the plan of God for our family, and we are stepping out in obedience to the Lord. We are excited for the opportunity to minister with our children. We ask that you would pray for us!
We are scheduled to leave Kansas City on May 24th, arriving in D.C. on May 26th. We will be gone for a month. The majority of that time we will be in D.C. with a few days tacked on the end to visit family on the way home.
We need a financial miracle this week in order for us to get to D.C. We are believing for a few people who believe in what God is asking of us to get behind us financially and help. We are in need of about $2500 to cover car repairs needed before we leave, and travel expenses for our journey to D.C. In addition we are needing to take care of some household maintenance and find someone to care for our yard/home while we are gone.
If you feel led to help in anyway, please contact us via email tracieloux@ihop.org or give via our paypal link in the sidebar.

"Benji" by Taylor Loux
This is a story my son Taylor wrote for school. He's in the process of doing illustrations for it now. I'm so proud of him. I know this is a long post, but this is really a great story! (Mostly I'm posting it for Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins!)
“Benji, please come down stairs for dinner.”
“One second, I’ll be there,” Benji the bunny exclaimed. He ran down the stairs and turned the corner. He sat in his hard, wooden chair next to Danny, a hedgehog who now smelled like garlic. He looked at the garlic mush that was placed in front of him. It was his favorite meal. He gobbled down all of his food and started to get ready for bed. He had school tomorrow, and he needed the rest.
Benji looked into the mirror while brushing his teeth. He wondered why he had to be spotted. No one liked his spots, and if he didn’t have spots, his parents wouldn’t have given him up. Benji let out a tear and climbed into his small bed and drifted off to sleep. That night he dreamed of a giant castle where he lived with a king. In the dream the king accepted him for who he was, but it was only a dream.
The next morning, Benji got out of bed, got everything he needed for school, and went to wait for the bus. When the bus finally arrived, he hopped in. Benji didn’t have any friends, so he usually sat by himself, but today the bus stopped in an unusual place and in came a squirrel. The squirrel walked down the aisle looking for a seat. Benji had never seen this squirrel before at school. He was very little.
“Can I sit here? All the other seats are taken,” the little squirrel asked quietly.
“Yeah, sure,” Benji replied, “I’ve never had someone sit by me before.”
“I’m JoJo. I just moved here,” he said while shaking Benji’s paw.
“ I’m Benji. I lived here my whole life. So, where did you say you were from?” Benji asked.
“Oh sorry, I moved here from the Great Wood,” JoJo said.
Everyone else on the bus heard this and gasped at what they had heard, for they all knew that The Great Wood was were the King dwelled.
“Where’s that?” Benji asked very confused, for he did not know anything about a king, or the Great Forest.
“It’s where the King lives. Many people believed that the King took in any animals that were abandoned and lost. “He was one of the most loving animal in the whole world, many of the storytellers would say. But over the years, people began to get tired of His laws. Then they turned away from Him, and they couldn’t see Him at all.”
“Everyone knows that He doesn’t exist squirrel,” one of the rabbits blurted out.
JoJo frowned, he hadn’t realized that so many animals did not believe in the King.
After the long day of school Benji took JoJo to his favorite place in the world, the giant tree house.
“Wow, this is so cool,” JoJo said amazed. They climbed up the rope ladder and gazed up at the white, fluffy clouds above them.
“What did you mean there back at the bus? I’ve never heard of a king like that before,” Benji said.
“I thought I told you,” JoJo said.
“I know, but I just don’t understand why a king would like me. I have spots. No one likes my spots,” Benji said sadly.
“He doesn’t care what you look like. He likes you the way you are,” JoJo said.
Benji thought for a moment. The king they were talking about sounded awfully familiar to the king in his dream.
“JoJo, I have to go. I’ll see you tomorrow,” Benji said while climbing down the ladder.
When Benji climbed down the ladder he quickly raced to the orphanage. He knew what he had to do. He had to find the king. But he couldn’t leave JoJo. He was the only one that could show him the way. He had to take him too. When he reached the orphanage, he got all of his clothes, his toothbrush, a candy bar, and a flashlight. He climbed out his window and headed towards JoJo’s house. When Benji reached JoJo’s house, he searched to find his window.
After circling the house, he finally found it. He began to tap on the glass. After a moment of tapping, a little head poked up from the window, it was JoJo.
“Benji, is that you.” JoJo said quite tiredly.
“Yes, I need you to come and show me where the King lives.”
“Benji, the King doesn’t live there anymore,” JoJo said
“But I thought you said you lived with Him,” Benji said quite confused.
“Well, He came to the Great Woods and lived there for awhile. That’s when I met Him, but He had to go. In a way, He still lives with us because He promised when He left He wouldn’t leave us but would live inside of us. My family left the Great Woods so that we could spread the news that the King still exists. He just returned to be with His Father,” JoJo said hoping that Benji would understand.
“Oh, now no one will adopt me,” Benji said trying to hold back his tears.
“You mean you don’t have a family?” JoJo said confused.
Benji couldn’t help it. He started to run for the woods. He had to run away. He couldn’t wait for a family any longer. He had to find someone who would love him.
JoJo ran to get his shoes and coat. He started to run after Benji.
When Benji finally reached the woods, he tried running through all the twigs and braches, but they kept on hitting him. Then he suddenly tripped on branch and hit his head. Everything turned black.
An hour had past when Benji finally woke up, but he was no longer lying on the prickly ground of the woods but on a warm, soft, and cozy bed. He looked to the left of him and sitting there was JoJo.
“He’s awake!” JoJo said quite happily. Everyone rushed into the room.
“This is my mom and dad,” JoJo said.
“How are you feeling?” JoJo’s dad said.
“My head hurts a little,” Benji replied.
“You did take a nasty fall,” JoJo’s mom said.
JoJo looked at him and said, “Benji, while you were sleeping, we were talking. We didn’t know that you didn’t have a family, and we’d like you to be part of our family.”
Benji was so happy, “You really want to adopt me?”
“Yes, we do, Benji,” JoJo’s dad said.
JoJo then turned to Benji and said, “Benji, I want to explain something to you about the King of The Great Wood. When He left, He left a part of Himself here. And since we love Him and believe in Him, we can almost see Him. He’s in our hearts. If you believe He’s real, you just have to tell Him that you believe and ask Him to be in your heart.”
“I do believe, JoJo. Before I met you I had a dream about the King, and I lived with him in his kingdom.”
“That was the king inviting you in!” said JoJo.
THE END

THE END
Rolly-Polly LiLi
Elia fell asleep on the living room floor last night. She's never done that. She normally has to be nicely tucked in bed to fall asleep.
I've learned a few things about Elia's sleeping habits from the many occasions she has spent time sleeping in bed with us in the wee hours of the morning. This is what I know. She is a flopsy baby. She rolls A LOT, she kicks, she slaps- she's just a busy busy sleeper.
Last night I got to witness it first hand. She literally rolled clear across the living room floor at one point. Another time, she stood up (in her sleep), took two steps, laid back down and rolled into a comfy position.
Observing all of this confirmed just why it is so difficult to sleep with her. Last night was one of those nights. She went to bed with a fever, Tylenol had not kicked in, and ended up waking at 2 o'clockish with a fever and yucky cough. She needed me of course, and I never ever make a sick baby "cry it out."
Sick Elia is no less rolly-polly, flopsy-mopsy than well Elia- thus the unexplained gash on my forehead this morning.

Healing Revival: Friday Night
Please watch on GodTV tonight. There will be a special time of impartation for children under the age of 12. The services are moving to Tiger Stadium tonight.
We really prayed and asked for God to make a way for us to take our children to Florida for this, but we are still here in Kansas City. I know that God is good and His presence surpasses geographic locations. We plan to tune in tonight as a family and make our home a place of worship and intercession believing for a special impartation for our children tonight.
I encourage you to join us in living rooms around the country- make your house a house of prayer!
