Where Else Would You Rather Be?
This Photo Gets Me Weepy
Ok, so beyond the fact that this is a photo of the two most amazing teen-aged boys that I know. Seriously! And beyond the fact that this is a photo of the two most beautifully little ladies on the face of the earth, this photo messes with my heart on a deep level.
I could let you figure it out, or I could just tell you what's on my heart. So here it is. These two young men have it figured out! Here's the Spirit of Adoption in full blown reality. These two big boys have chosen to love, unconditionally, no holding back. Believe me when I tell you, I cannot imagine two sisters more loved by their brothers than these.
You watch, for years to come, I will get to witness some serious "warrior defend the princess" stuff in action when it comes to these ladies and their "boys."
New Stuff We Do: Part 6
I haven't disappeared, I've just been busy.
Yesterday I spent the day with my dear friend Kelsey shopping for art supplies for The Daniel Academy. I will be teaching art 4 hours a week at TDA to grades 1st-8th. I am so excited about this opportunity on a number of different levels.
For one, The Daniel Academy is the place where my children will receive an incredible education this year while being surrounded by marvelous comrades and being encouraged to run hard in the place of prayer and fasting. The Daniel Academy is rich with educators who are gifted in knowledge and are also called to a life of prayer.
In addition, I have the privilege of teaching art to this amazing bunch of children. I left a teaching position that I loved when the Lord spoke clearly to us to move to Kansas City. And with that, I thought perhaps I was laying down the possibilities of ever teaching again in that capacity. It wasn't a hard surrender. And I love that I'm able to teach the Word of God to children here on Sundays and at our various conferences throughout the year, but I am so grateful for this opportunity to teach art again.
I told John and the kids the other day that I was nervous. They just rolled their eyes at me and said, "Mom, you're like the best teacher we know." and stuff like that... you know the stuff your family is supposed to say to you! But the point of my nervousness is this. For the first time, I have the opportunity to teach art beyond the principles of color and design, beyond the history of great artists, and beyond the varieties of media and expressions available. For the first time, I can talk about the beauty of expressing the Creator God through the visual arts, the power of expressing a prophetic utterance with pencil or paint, and the pure act of worship that can take place when an artist puts hand to brush to say "I love you, Lord."
So this is one more thing I do. I teach. I teach art. And I ask for grace from the Lord to embrace this and hear His heartbeat.

I Love My Brother-in-Law
I love Derek, but I can't resist sharing this little inside scoop! It's just way too funny to hold onto...
Not so funny, Derek's recent trip to Korea took over 48 hours (2 major delays: Chicago and Hong Kong)...
Also not so funny, Derek's luggage and all of his product (book/cd's etc.) is still missing at last report.
Very Funny Indeed: Derek has had to borrow clothing from Daniel Lim, a very conservative dresser, and his hair care products are missing in action! (You local's will understand the humor. The rest of you, I'm sorry, this is just extremely funny if you're an IHOP'er)

Happy Birthday To ME!
It's that big day!
I'm bearly in my 30's, that's all I'm saying.
I have an incredible husband, 4 amazing children, a few rare and precious friends.
I have an amazing family.
I am blessed to be here in Kansas City, where my heart is constantly in awe at the beauty and goodness of the Lord.
I get to serve amazing children each week in the Children's Equipping Center. Teaching them is one of my greatest honors in life.
I am blessed.

Hair Again
I got my hair cut last night. It was getting too long. Too short to be long, but to long to be short if you know what I mean. (or maybe you can't possibly understand)
Anyway, I get half way through and my hair dresser says, "Now where are you going directly after this?"
I say, "Home."
She says, "No, you're going home to color your hair. Don't stop anywhere else, go to Walgreens and get your hair color!"
Here's the deal, my hair is brown. This particular hair cut, happened to cut off all of the color in my hair. For real, it was solid brown! I was blond as a kid and somewhere in between then and now my hair quit being blonde. So, in my 20's I did what made sense, I colored my hair blonde. I've been every possible shade of blonde imaginable, and one that turned out purple and required a $45 fix it job!
Anyway, apparently at this stage in the game, red is best! So I bought my box of Loreal Medium Auburn and wahla! I'm a red head again. My hairdresser says I have to stay a redhead. We'll see.

Derek Loux Hair Care 101
Because you asked. A few people have come right out and asked, "What does he put in his hair to get it to do that?". The other day I got this at the Pastors and Leader's conference- "Are you Derek Loux's wife?" To which I reply, "No, I'm not. I'm his sister in law." To which the response was, "OH, did you have to have cool hair to marry into the family!"
I'll save the "cool Loux hair" in the late 80's early 90's for another day. But let's just say, I've begged my mother in law to take our wedding pictures off of her walls! I'm pretty sure that only thing that tops our wedding photo is Derek and Renee's wedding photos! Nuff said!
Renee called me the other day when I was out running errands and said, "Hey Derek's out of hairspray. Will you do me a favor pick some up for him on your way over here?" Partly because I'm nosy, but mostly because I love her, I said yes!
SO HERE IT IS (drum roll please)
Derek uses all the Got2B Products.
1. got2b glued blasting FREEZE SPRAY (ah, that explains it!)
2. got2be glued spiking glue (tacky huh?)
3. and one other got2b product that he puts on FIRST to protect his hair from all this GLUE! (it's a flat iron hair protector of some sort)
YOU ASKED!!!!

Wild at Heart
Little boys are WARRIORS at heart. My big boy still has that heart cry of a warrior, not just in his play, but in his spirit. That longing to fight for righteousness and see the Kingdom of God rise up in victory. His name means "Victorious"! He carries his name well.
Though these pictures of his "AIRSOFT" birthday gift are much about play. I think deep down it is the Warrior Spirit within him that cries out to fight for righteousness. I see it in his play, I see it in his artwork, and I hear it in the revelations he shares with me of the things he hears from God's heart!

I didn't disappear
I'm just super busy overseeing the Children's Tracks for our current Pastors and Leaders Conference. Let me just say this, it is one of my biggest honors so far to serve these children of pastors and leaders across the world. There hearts are precious and they are so hungry. I feel humbled at the thought of being given this chance to sow into their lives.
We have many, many states represented as well as a few from Canada, and one precious young man from Taiwan. Pray for them! Pray also for three young sibling who are going home to start a JHOP (Jesus House of Prayer) in their basement. They are longing for friends to stand along side them in this call!

Ginormous
This word will now be in the dictionary! I can hardly wait til my son Taylor wakes up to tell him! He came back from a short trip several months ago terribly distraught because he used this word and was told by someone that it was not in the dictionary.
Apparently Merriam-Webster has heard Taylor's outrage! We are a happy family as we use this word often. In addition it gives us all one more fine word to use when playing Scrabble. 100 new words in the dictionary Scrabble fans!

Nick Turns 15!
It's hard to believe that I have a 15 year old son! He blows me away everyday. He's an amazing young man and I'm so proud of him. He is an amazing artist, musician, filmmaker, and all around creative guy. His sense of humor brings so much joy to my life! He is an amazing brother, kind and sensitive. He has a tender heart for the Lord and is one who seeks wisdom and revelation. I love him! Happy Birthday Nick 7/8/07.
We're Home AGAIN!
We had a wonderful family vacation in Bellaire, Michigan! We were able to spend time with all of my immediate family, as well as some extended family. Elia has now met all of her aunts, uncles, and cousins. We came home through Indianapolis and were able to spend part of the weekend with John's parents too.
I'll let the photos speak for themselves!
